London during Christmas time, a wonderful place to visit! Lights, a festive atmosphere in the city and many extra activities for the holiday season. Such a joy!
It was the first time we went on a city trip as a family, so it was very exciting for my two boys, especially because they have never flown before. They were absolutely ecstatic.
We spend a lovely time visiting the Natural History Museum, my boys wanted to see dinosaurs and they were not disappointed! This is such a great museum for kids. Many big skeletons and impressive fossils. I’m sure that the small things are maybe of more historic significance, but for a 9 year old nothing beats coming face to face with a 25 meter long dinosaur!
I must confess, we didn’t visit London just for the sights, we visited London so that I could meet up with Dedri Uys from Look at What I made and a mutual friend whom I will leave anonymous. Dedri and I have been working together for some time now, I have made videos for her world famous Sophie’s Universe and recently the Tunisian Crochet Ten Stitch Afgan.
We decided to treat ourselves to a visit to Loop, a quaint little yarn store in Islington, just a stones throw away from my friend’s apartment where we were staying. A word of warning, do not visit this store without a budget and then; STICK TO IT. They have so many luxury hand dyed yarns that if you don’t keep your wits about you, you end up spending more than you can afford.
Loop is a little messy at first glance with yarn skeins all over the place, but there is some order in there I’m sure. To me it felt like a heavenly yarn-clutter for all yarn lovers out there.
I finally chose 3 skeins of Malabrigo Merino Wool. This yarn is uber soft and has a very subtle color variation due to the hand dyed nature of the yarn. I am still considering what to make with it. I want to make something special to remember my visit to London and meeting Dedri for the first time.
When I was about to pay for the yarn my eye fell on a needle gauge in the shape of an acorn. This so fits my blog theme that I couldn’t leave it behind.
And no visit to any city is complete without a snow globe 😀 Also this time I added a globe to my collection.
We had a wonderful time visiting London. It was such a blessing to meet Dedri, strange how your souls can just connect…..
I hope you have a lovely weekend!

What a lovely post, Esther. I had such a wonderful day with you two and I it did my heart good to see how well all our children got along at dinner (despite the difference in languages and ages). Even the men seemed to have fun!
Here’s to many more projects together 🙂

Hi Esther,
