Crochet afghan inspiration

We are slowly but surly moving out of winter and into spring and the start of a new season means the start of new crochet projects. You don’t have to look hard to find a zillion new projects and CALs. I though I would share a few with you.

Lydia

Do you remember Lydia? She was designed by my good friend Dedri Uys from Look at what I made as a way to extend Sophie’s Universe from a square to a rectangle. Dedri has now made it possible to make a whole afghan from this cute square and has taken the time to make a yarn pack in Scheepjes Cotton 8 to get a lovely spring blanket. The Lydia blanket consists of 48 squares with a central flower and a beautiful rose border. I just so happen to have a video showing you how to make the square 😉

Just look at how lovely Dedri’s blanket looks!

Stylecraft CAL: Frida’s Flowers

This is a project that I will not be participating in, just too many WIPs as it is, but it did catch my eye and I wanted to share it with you. The new Stylecraft CAL is designed by Jane Crowfoot and has many hexagon flowers making an afghan. Also for this project you don’t have to go looking for yarn yourself because there are yarn packs available in Classic Cotton

Friends Around the World CAL

Have you seen the announcement in the announcement in the CAL – Crochet A Long Facebook group on their anniversary CAL “Friends Around the World”? I will be contributing to this CAL also. Still keeping everything a secret for now, but get your yarn in the ready because it’s going to be fun. You will need worsted weight yarn, I am using Scheepjes Stone Washed XL (available from Deramores or Paradise Fibers), but other worsted weight yarn will also do the trick. We start on March 22, 2016.

Last dance on the beach

And then there is the new Scheepjes CAL in memory of Marinke….. I will post more on this special CAL later.

Hope you have a fun-filled season with lots of crochet adventures.

With love,

Esther
