You know that feeling when you have an idea in your head and it does not want to go away? That pesky little idea that just wants you to act on it? This little idea has led to me rummaging through my yarn stash looking for yarn and I found just what I was looking for: Scheepjes Color Crafter.
I have been blessed with leftovers from other projects as well as several odd colored balls in my stash. But no worries, there isn’t a color that does not have a purpose. I rummaged through my impressive stash and found 18 colors that match up beautifully. “That many!” I hear you say? Don’t worry, there is method to the madness.
I want to play with color and have one flow into the next like a warm summer wind. It is middle of summer, but I want to make a warm blanket to snuggle up under on a cold winter’s night with a glass of wine and good company.
It’s kind of funny that I am using an acrylic yarn for what is going to be my first blanket design. When I started to crochet I started with acrylic yarn, just like everyone really. I used the cheap stuff you buy at discount stores because it was readily available and I had no knowledge of the different kinds of yarn. I made a few small things and soon came to hate acrylic yarn. I hated how it scratched my hands and how it pilled within weeks of completing my first cushion (needless to say that cushion has been thrown out). I transferred to cotton yarn and just loved it; and honestly haven’t given acrylic yarn another look since then.
But then came Last Dance on the Beach, the Scheepjes CAL 2016 in which I used Color Crafter to make the video tutorials for you. Color Crafter in a premium acrylic yarn and that makes a world of difference. Acrylic yarn is a synthetic material and dependent on the material properties of the polymer used to make the yarn, you will get different properties and ultimately also different price points. Unlike the stuff I’ve used before, this yarn is soft to work with, has a beautiful drape and as far as I can tell it does not pill. I have adapted my opinion on acrylic yarn, but only on the good stuff 😀 Color Crafter is available in over 90 colors, so your perfect shade must be in there somewhere. You can buy Scheepjes Color Crafter from Wool Warehouse, or your local Scheepjes stockist.
Like I said, I will be making a warm color chancing blanket. Be sure to pop by next week to see how the blanket is coming along.
With love,
Esther

Can’t wait to see what you are going to make. I’m Dutch, Scheepjes is Dutch but I still haven’t crochet with this yarn. I only use cotton and wool yarn, because acrylic doesn’t “breath” as natural yarn as cotton and wool do.
Maybe I will go to the shop and buy 1 color to see how it works 😉

Cotton 8 is mijn favoriete garen. Veel kleuren en werkt soepel
