Old Hollywood in a Velvet yarn

I am currently a bit in-between big projects; giving me an opportunity for a smaller project. Somehow I am always making BIG project, mostly blankets, and I never seem to get round to making something a bit smaller. Time to change all of that.

I have been thinking for a while about a design of my own; something with a glamorous feel to it, suitable for a special occasion and yet also something you would use on a day-to-day basis. I want it to be comfortable and warm, but not be bulky and heavy. Contemplating my ideas and studying different yarns have brought me to the Scheepjes Color Crafter Velvet line. This yarn has a classic feel to it; a bit old-school. Like a whisper from a time when life was less complicated.

The Color Crafter Velvet yarns have an ‘aged effect’ like old and worn velvet. Similar to the Color Crafter, this yarn is also 100% Premium Acrylic and has a soft touch and feel. You can use the Velvet on its own or in combination with the Color Crafter because they are the same weight and are best worked with a 4mm hook. You can buy Color Crafter Velvet from Wool Warehouse or your local Scheepjes stockist.

There are many colors to choose from in the Velvet line with which you can achieve different looks. I wanted something classic, timeless almost. I therefore went for maybe one of the most classic of color combinations; Black and Bordeaux. The Velvet yarns are named after Hollywood legends and my colors are named after Grace Kelly and Humphrey Bogart. Now if that isn’t a match made in Hollywood Heaven, I don’t know what is!

My Hollywood project is growing and next week I will give you a peak of what I am working on. Hope to see you then.

With love,

Esther
