Video tutorials
The pattern for week 3 is very similar to what we did in week 2, that is a crochet fabric base decorated with surface crochet and embroidery. This means that I will not have a new video for you in the following weeks. Just follow the techniques I showed you in the video for week 2 if you feel unsure or to double check when in doubt, but use the written patterns for the new embroidery charts.
Last week I also shared my tips for making embroidery work, particularly cross stitch embroidery. Keep these tips in mind as you continue the next weeks when you grow your Hygge shawl.
Yarn and kits for Hygge CAL
If you are only just joining in, there are 5 colorway kits to choose from. You can choose between the Rainbow, Jewel, Pastel, Danish Mermaid and Girls Night In colorways. The kits contain 10 balls of Stone Washed yarn, 11 balls of Catona yarn and extra goodies to get you in the Hygge mindset. Goodies include a button, a charm, a stitch marker, a yarn needle and 2 wooden ice crystals. The kits are available from Wool Warehouse or your Scheepjes stockist.
Over the next weeks I will be a bit in the background, I will pop into the Facebook groups from time to time, but you will not hear from me with a new Hygge video till later. I will give an update on my Hygge shawl when we are further into the project, but for now, enjoy doing your embroidery and remember to be hugge!
With love,
Esther

This looks incredible so far! You are such an inspiration for me to learn new stitches and techniques. I know that following your video tutorials has really improved my crochet skills and makes me bravely tackle projects that I thought were too complicated! I just started Mandala Madness to try to get back to the roots of what I’ve always loved about crocheting. I posted about it yesterday and there was a lot of very positive response! Thank you!! 🙂

Hello, I’m excited to be doing the Hygge cal. For some strange reason I stopped receiving these weekly emails for the Cal after week 3 I’m keen to keep going. Please can I get these again. Esther, you do a fantastic job with these calls! Thank you so much for you enthusiastic work! Libby in Australia

I have not posted about Hygge after week 3 because there was not a new video to share. I will post again about it when the cal is further along. You can find all the patterns in the scheepjes Facebook group or on the Scheepjes website

I am working on your scheepjes hygge cal pattern. On the pattern you say to double crochet and during the videos you say you are doing a double crochet stitch but you are doing a single crochet stitch. I am on week 5 and I don’t know why I haven’t asked the question sooner but am I supposed to be doing a single or a double stitch?

The pattern and video uses UK crochet terms. You are confusing them with US crochet terms.
