You must have noticed the yarn cakes by Scheepjes, right? I can’t open any of my social media channels without seeing at least one person making something with Scheepjes Whirl or someone sharing their latest Whirl purchase. Everyone is crazy about this yarn and I thought it is high time that I make something with it too.
Scheepjes Whirl Yarn
Scheepjes Whirl is a cotton/acrylic mix yarn with a very slooooow color gradient. The yarn is twined and twisted to prevent splitting which makes it easy to work with. Each cake has a generous 1000 meters of yarn on it, making it perfect for projects such as shawls and accessories.
There are an amazing 24 colorways already available and new colors are added to the range almost every month. The colorways are named after ice cream flavors, and seriously with this summer heat, who doesn’t want ice cream? What is your favorite flavor?
Scheepjes Whirl is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), Knotty House (CA) or your favorite Scheepjes stockist.
My favorite flavor: Raspberry Rocky Roads
The are so many colorways to choose from, and that makes it almost impossible to pick just one, but sometimes you just have to make a decision. I am using the colorway Raspberry Rocky Roads (752) for my project.
You can start on either end of the yarn cake, depending on what you are making and what look you are going for. I decided to start on the outside. Next week I will show you what I am making with it, see you then!
With love,
Esther

Hope it’s a shawl, I made a lost in time, very pretty but found it ended being on the smallish side.
