Crochet, instruction video

Announcement: In Bloom CAL videotutorials

I’m late to the party, but hopefully I can still attend! It is with great pleasure that I announce that I am going to be making a series of video tutorials for the lovely In Bloom crochet along. In Bloom has been designed by the super talented Johanna Lindahl from Mijo Crochet in collaboration with FavoritGarner. I’m sure you all know Johanna from her classic design Lost in Time shawl, the shawl everyone seems to be making, but also Secret Paths shawl and Taiga shawl. She is in one word talented.

Yarn

The yarn that I’m using is Scheepjes Catona yarn which is a good quality, sturdy 100% mercerized cotton, sport weight yarn. I have selected my own colorway for the project, and these are my colors and yarn amounts, all are Scheepjes Catona 50g balls:

  • Color 1 – 1 x 246 : Icy Pink
  • Color 2 – 1 x 240 : Amethyst
  • Color 3 – 1 x 394 : Shadow Purple
  • Color 4 – 4 x 130 : Old Lace
  • Color 5 – 1 x 173 : Bluebell
  • Color 6 – 1 x 247 : Blue Bird
  • Color 7 – 1 x 164 : Light Navy

Scheepjes Catona is available in balls of 10g (NEW!), 25g balls, 50g balls and for limited colors also in 100g balls. There are 109 colors in the range so I’m sure that your favorite color combination must be in there also.

I used 50g balls for my In Bloom cushion. Scheepjes Catona is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/International),  Love Crochet (US), Knotty House (CA) or your local Scheepjes Stockist. In addition to the yarn you will also need a 3.0mm and 3.5mm hook. Thank you for supporting my work by buying your yarn through the links on my blog. ❤

Timelines

Each week for the next 8 weeks I will release a new video tutorial for In Bloom. The video tutorials will show you how to make the cushion step by step. The first video will be released next week, and the last video end of October.

This is our first collaboration and I am really excited to work with Johanna. I hope to see you next week for the first video tutorial.

With love,

Esther

  2. Esther,
Forgive me for being so presumptuous, but would you EVER consider making a tutorial for the Lost in Time shawl ?
It is magnificent, I tried using a pattern however it was too complicated for me …. and yet , thanks to you I have made my Charlotte and now making my Sophie’s Universe … I could not have done this without your excellent tutorials .. they are SO in depth and detailed…. showing the correct side / loop/ stitch to crochet into .

  4. Hallo Esther, wat leuk en fijn dat je dit gaat doen! Voor mij is haken een enorme hobby geworden en is er geen brug te hoog of zee te diep, met jou video’s kom ik er altijd uit! Nogmaals dank! Dit patroon gaat op de wishlist.

  5. Hello Esther! First of all I would like to thank you so much for the video tutorials! I just finished mandala madness and I am currently working on nuts about squares and could not have done it without your instructions and your kind and soothing voice! Please forgive my ignorance, but I would like to order the same yarn you are using for In Bloom. I don’t understand how much to order (1×246 icy pink) – does that mean 246g? I’m sorry but I buy yarn in the US by yards. Thanks in advance! 😍

  6. Thank you very, very much Esther for making those videos ! They were so helpful to clarify “grey areas” in the pattern such as Ch1 icoynts as the 1st SC of the round and the start of round 17.
