The start of a new project is always exciting, and that is also true for In Bloom, a lovely designed by Johanna Lindahl from Mijo Crochet. In this first part of the project we are making the central flower. In the first few rounds the flower is still a bit wonky, but as it grows it starts to lay flat.

Yarn
The yarn that I’m using is Scheepjes Catona yarn which is a good quality, sturdy 100% mercerized cotton, sport weight yarn. I have selected my own colorway for the project, and these are my colors and yarn amounts, all are Scheepjes Catona 50g balls:
- Color 1 – 1 x 246 : Icy Pink
- Color 2 – 1 x 240 : Amethyst
- Color 3 – 1 x 394 : Shadow Purple
- Color 4 – 4 x 130 : Old Lace
- Color 5 – 1 x 173 : Bluebell
- Color 6 – 1 x 247 : Blue Bird
- Color 7 – 1 x 164 : Light Navy
Scheepjes Catona is available in 109 colors in balls of 10g (NEW!), 25g balls, 50g balls and for limited colors also in 100g balls.
I am following the color order as suggested by Johanna, but to make life easier for you, here is the order of my colors per round:
- Round 1 – 246 : Icy Pink
- Round 2 – 246 : Icy Pink
- Round 3 – 246 : Icy Pink
- Round 4 – 240 : Amethyst
- Round 5 – 240 : Amethyst

Hey Esther,
i’d like to know how many yarn balls i will need for the whole blanket. I’m from Germany and don’t want to waste too much money on shipping by buying the yarnballs per patch each week.
Greetings :))

In Bloom is a cushion, not a blanket. The yarn amounts given in this post is for the whole cushion, so 10 balls of Catona in total.
