Part 10 of Elements CAL is a lot more work than Part 9. I know many of you will be totally delighted because you love to have an excuse to crochet lots and lots. So you are in luck this week! This week we are completing the large center square and we are making the first 8 of 24 squares that will frame the large centerpiece.

Video tutorial Part 10
I don’t think you will need me very much for part 10 because this part is a repetition of things we have done before.
Edit: Please note that there has been an update of the pattern for the small squares which means that the video is slightly different from the pattern. The update is for the last round, and in essence comes down to the following: do not skip the first stitch on each edge. This will result in 29 stitches per side which is what we are aiming for.
Yarn & kits
- Color 1 – Moonstone (801)
- Color 2 – Lilac Quartz (818)
- Color 3 – Deep Amethyst (811)
- Color 4 – Lepidolite (830)
- Color 5 – Boulder Opal (804)
Scheepjes Stone Washed is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/International), Love Crochet (US), Knotty House (CA), Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU) or your local Scheepjes Stockist. In addition to the yarn you will also need a 4mm hook. Thank you for supporting my work by buying your yarn through the links on my blog. ❤
I have used Boulder Opal (804) for Rounds 64 – 67 which finishing the centerpiece of Part 10. I used the Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn in combination with a 4mm hook.
In addition to finishing the center square you also need to make 8 smaller squares. I have decided to echo the color placement of my small square we made in week 1 and I have decided to make all 24 squares identical. So my color placement for all 24 squares is as follows:
- Round 1 – Moonstone 801
- Round 2 – Moonstone 801
- Round 3 – Moonstone 801
- Round 4 – Moonstone 801
- Round 5 – Lilac Quartz 818
- Round 6 – Lilac Quartz 818
- Round 7 – Deep Amethyst 811
- Round 8 – Deep Amethyst 811
- Round 9 – Lepidolite 830
- Round 10 – Boulder Opal 804
- Round 11 – Boulder Opal 804
In the announcement of Elements I indicated that I have 5 balls of yarn of each color and that I would order more if needed. Well, at this point it’s needed. At the end of Part 10 I have used 4 x Moonstone (801), 3 x Lilac Quartz (818), 4 x Deep Amethyst (811), 4 x Lepidolite (830), and 5 x Boulder Opal (804).
Keeping in mind the yarn I still have left, I have ordered the following extra balls of yarn, this might be too much of certain colors because I still haven’t finished my Elements blanket, but I believe it should get me to the end of the project without running out. I have ordered 3 x Moonstone (801), 2 x Lilac Quartz (818), 3 x Deep Amethyst (811), 4 x Lepidolite (830), and 4 x Boulder Opal (804). This means that my total yarn amounts come to 8 balls of each color. When the project is finished I will give details about my exact number of balls used.
Again I had a great model to help me show my work. Do you also have helpers like I do? I would love to see them. Feel free to share your work with me on my Facebook page, in my Facebook group It’s all in a Nutshell Crochet Nuts, tag me in one of your posts on Instagram or use #itsallinanutshell.
Next week we continue with part 11 when the pace of the CAL will increase a bit. See you then.
