Last week I showed you my progress for my Diamond Shawl, and I think you can guess what I want to show you now. Indeed, I have completed my shawl and am all chuffed to show you! My shawl is actually more of a wrap and is totally winter warm due to the luscious mohair yarn that I used with the Whirl.
My wrap is made with Blackcurrent Squeeze Me Whirl (773) and Hip Hip Mohair Rhythm (685) to make the wrap extra warm. I was in doubt as to weather I would use the Frosted Whirlette (852) to extend my wrap but at the end of the day decided not to because I though it was already large enough as it is.
All these yarns are available from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), Black Sheep Wools (UK/Int), Knotty House (CA), Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU), or your favorite Scheepjes stockist.
The wrap has a parallelogram shape and can be used in different ways. The parallelogram gives for beautiful pointy tips and a color pattern that runs at an angle through the wrap. And then there is the texture, I am loving the mohair texture. I wish you could feel it, just amazing. But if you are allergic to mohair, best to skip that last part about feeling the fabric!!
This week I will spend some time to write up the pattern for you. It’s a two-row repeat that goes on and on till you run out of yarn. I will try my best to share it with you next week, my life is so full at the moment.
With love,
Esther

It is beautiful! I don’t know what mohair feels like, I’ll have to go and feel some. Windydayze is right though – what colours to choose!

Very nice Esther! Unfortunately I am allergic to mohair/wool. Do you have any suggestions what to use instead of mohair?

you could make this shawl with only the Whirl, which is a cotton/acrylic blend. then the shawl will be lighter, but still beautiful I think

Simply lovely Esther! I love the colors. I’ve never used Whirl but I just finished a blanket of Charlotte squares using Softfun Aquarel and it’s a lot heavier than I expected it to be!
I can’t wait to see your pattern! Thank you so much.

Esther, you do such beautiful work and so generous to share. I’ve been looking for a shawl pattern to make for my grandson’s girlfriend for prom. I wanted something light and pretty but not too fancy. I think this will be perfect. I just need to find something other than mohair. Thank you so much. Can’t wait to see the pattern.

A thin cotton thread would be amazingly delicate and beautiful
