SPRING IS HERE! Time for a happy dance, and just in case you don’t believe me the rows I made in April for my temperature blanket prove is. Are you making a temperature blanket for this year? If not, you still have loads of time to hop on and join me in my C2C Make Along 2018. I am using 35 shades of Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat, which are 25g balls, but you can just as easily use the bigger Scheepjes Maxi Suger Rush which are 50g. I use a 2.5mm (US 4) hook, but sometimes you many needed to drop a hook size to get your work to look nice. All info and resources in this post.
Scheepjes Suger Rush and Sweet Treat yarn is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), Black Sheep Wools (UK), Knotty House (US), Love Crochet (US), Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU) and many other Scheepjes Stockists. Under Resources you find everything you need for the Make Along.

April has really been the start of spring for me. There have been not one, not two, but a whopping six (!) all time high maximum record day time temperatures in my city in April. In summary, April has been very warm with two weeks in the mid to high 20’s C (70’s F) as proven by the deep red and even purple shades in my blanket. My old tomcat Jack also loves the warm weather and felt my blanket needed a closer inspection just to be sure that the colors were all correct.
I have however also added many rows in the high 10’s C (60’s F) which resulted in me running out of yarn. I have started two new balls of Scheepjes Maxi Sweet Treat . It was fun to see that many of you could relate to that feeling of running out of yarn half way through a project when I shared some WIP photo’s in my Facebook group It’s all in a Nutshell Crochet Nuts. We are now at the start of May, and the weather forecasts promise a great continuation of spring.
Important date: May 26th – changing direction
Up to now we have been happily working along increasing the diagonal of our blanket with each passing day. May marks an important turning point in our blanket, literally. On May 26th we start keeping the diagonal constant.
May 25th will be the last day that you work an increase in your diagonal and at the end of that day you will have 145 pixels on your diagonal. Your blanket will now have it’s final width and we will start increasing only the length direction of the blanket. This means that from May 26th on for the next few months, you will be making a row of 145 pixels each day.
All the details about how to keep the diagonal constant are in the written pattern. ❤
Make your own #C2CMAL2018 blanket
To make your own blanket you need to align temperatures to colors. I have given you an example in my Color Chart C2C Temperature Blanket Make ALong 2018. However, feel free to change the range of the temperatures to better suite your local situation. I have decided to use the maximum temperature registered by the official weather station in my city as the temperature for each day of the year. You can use the Empty Color Chart to register the temperature in your city so that you can keep track of which color goes where. Finally you need the pattern, we are going to keep increasing the diagonal for some time still, so just keep going for the time being.
