I started work again last week, loads of new students in my class rooms with fresh energy for the new year. The start of a new year is always exciting and stressful at the same time. Between all the busyness I luckily still got round to preparing my post for you. Today we are on part 5 of Stitch Story crochet along designed by Heather Gibbs. The pattern for this week is a zigzag overlay pattern. If you have never done overlay before this, this is a great way to get to know a bit about how it works.

Video tutorial Part 5
In the video tutorial I show you how to make the overlay zigzag pattern. Overlay crochet works in layers, we work the bottom of the fabric in one row, and make a pattern detail on top of it in the next row.
My squares for Part 5
I am making my Stitch Story blanket in one color of Scheepjes River Washed yarn, the baby brother of the much loved Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn. I am using River Washed Wheaton (950), a soft shade with blue fluff and a cherry core, for my squares.
Scheepjes River Washed is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), Black Sheep Wools (UK), Knotty House (CA), Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU) and many other Scheepjes stockists worldwide. Thank you for supporting my work by buying your yarn through the links on my blog ❤
My Scheepjes River Washed squares are working up really nice, the textured squares are starting to form a mini blanket. My large squares are in my house too, but they are just too big to really photograph well.
Release date of videos changed
As you know, the patterns for Stitch Story are released every second Wednesday. The next pattern release for Stitch Story is to be September 12th. And wouldn’t you know it, this is also the day that Ubuntu CAL starts. Releasing two projects on one day is just too much for me.
Therefore I will be releasing the videos for Stitch Story on the Friday after the written pattern is released. You can still crochet along with Heather, she will release the written patterns on her blog as planned. If you want to refer back to the video, you will have to wait two extra days. Hope this works for everyone.
In just over two weeks I will release the video for part 6, see you then.
With love,
Esther
