I know many of you LOVED doing Elements CAL, and I know that many of you have been patiently waiting for a sequel. Your patience is being rewarded, because in December we will start with a short crochet along in which we are making a baby brother or sister for our Elements blanket. Baby Elements is the boldest baby blanket I have seen in a long time, and is designed by Sandra Kuijer from Hooks and Yarn.

About Baby Elements CAL
During Baby Elements CAL we will be making a super cute, yet at the same time very bold baby blanket. The blanket is approximately 85cm x 62cm (35″ x 25″) and uses two light worsted / aran weight yarns in combination with a 4.5mm and 5.0mm hook.
Baby Elements uses 4 colors of Scheepjes Cahlista, and one color of Scheepjes Soft Fun. The Cahlista is used for the details in the blanket whereas the Soft Fun is a background color. Many of the kits that are available have an ombré look and feel to them. I thought, because this is a baby blanket and because I somehow associate babies with pastels and with rainbows, that I will use a small, pastel shaded rainbow in my blanket. I am using a soft white background color for my blanket. Find all yarn amounts HERE.
Yarn kits, including a kit with my colors, are available exclusively through Hooks and Yarn. It is now possible to pre-order a kit so that you are all ready to go when the CAL starts. Each pre-order kit also contains a wooden teether and a stitch marker with a baby charm which are part of a small contest towards the end of the CAL.
Video tutorials, dates and logistics
Baby Elements will start on Thursday, December 6th, 2018 at 8pm Dutch time and is hosted in the Hooks and Yarn Facebook group. A new pattern will be released every week on Hooks and Yarn, with a total of 5 parts, meaning that the last part will be released in the first week of January 2019. Each time Sandra releases a part of the pattern, I will release a video on my YouTube channel and share my progress with photos here on my blog.
I am really looking forward to starting a new, small project with you. This will be a great project for the holiday season. See you soon for part 1.
With love,
Esther

I already have a lot of the yarn needed so don’t want to order the kit, but want to know if I can find out ahead of time how much of each colour I will need.
Thanks for your help Arlene (sewbiz53 on Rav)

Will this be available as a pattern after the CAL is over so other people can still make it if they aren’t able to participate in the CAL.

Hi Esther, I would love to join the CAL and order the kit but I am in the US. Is there a list of colors that are in the kits? I am interested in the green combination. Thank you for your help, Simone
