As a whole, January has been rather average. Usually it’s about 4C/40F in my part of the world in January, and I believe we averaged about that temperature over the month. We started out with rather stable weather, resulting in long stretches of the same color.
From about the 15th onward, we suddenly saw more variation, including a few ice days, days in which the maximum temperature stays below freezing, and we even had several days of snow. The result is that I have various stripey sections in my wrap in blue and light grey.
I had a moment of indulgence…. I bought a Furls Odessey hook to use with my wrap. It’s a US size D hook, wich is 3.25mm slightly thicker than the 3mm hook I was planning to use. I have never used a Furls hook before, and the verdict is still out on it. It’s heavier than my Clover Amour hooks, and considerably thicker too. Also the shape of the tip is different. In summary, it takes some getting used to. Furls Odessey hooks are available from selected retailers, including Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU), Wool Warehouse (UK/international), and Habbedash (international).
The wrap is still small, and it is a bit fiddly at times, but I always have good company to help me make the wrap. My cat Troy is constant at my side when I am crocheting, always happy to inspect my work.
Up to now I have only used light grey, light blue, and bright blue, 3 colors which all relate to cold temperatures. I am hoping that February will bring warmer temperatures to my town and a new color to my wrap.
Make your own Bohemian Temperature Wrap
To make a Bohemian Temperature Wrap, you need 8 colors of Scheepjes Cotton 8. The colors I have chosen make a classic rainbow from cool to warm colors.
It’s impossible to predict how much yarn you will need for the wrap because the color placement is still unknown. In my announcement post I make an estimate regarding yarn amounts. Scheepjes Cotton 8 yarn is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), Knotty House (US), Love Crochet (US), Caro’s Atelier (NL) and many other Scheepjes Stockists.
The pattern for the wrap is a triangular shape worked in linen stitch, starting from one corner and gradually increasing along the diagonal. January 1st has only one stitch, and December 31st has around 170 stitches. All details regarding the stitch pattern, gauge and stitch counts is in the written pattern available in English and Dutch.
