I am sure this sounds familiar to you. You have made the most amazing blanket ever, about 10 times or so because somehow your latest blanket always seems to be the best one yet, but now you have a whole bag full of odd balls in random colors and different quantities. Rest assured, you are not the only one. Everyone who makes things with yarn will have such a box or bag of left-over yarn.
Maybe your bag looks something like this…?

Or maybe more like this…?

I suggest you use a Sunday afternoon in which you have nothing planned, and take the time, maybe an hour or two, to organize your yarn. If you have a yarn winder, that really helps! Turn all these odd balls and random colors into a neat stack of yarn cakes, ready for use.
I have a yarn winder from KnitPro, but there are many good ones out there. The yarn winder I have is available from Habbedash (International), with a similar one by Scheepjes available from Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU).
Now doesn’t that look much more organized! I am going to turn all this yarn, plus about 15 other random balls of Scheepjes Colour Crafter yarn I have unused in a box, into a very large blanket. Stay posted, I will show you more later.
With love,
Esther

What could be better in the time of Coronavirus, than (another) new blanket project in relentlessly cheerful colors?!😊 Thank you. I’m looking forward to it. Stay safe. Niamh

Hi, thank you for the idea, however all yarn winders are rather too expensive for a yarn tidying exercise. I may try to DIY one or keep my wool as is.
