How is the weather in your part of the world? Where I live it’s winter now, and at the moment it’s dark, dreary and cold. We are expecting some snow later this week, and together with mostly rain and wind, all I want to do is stay indoors. The only thing I go outside for is to do grocery shopping and train with my personal trainer; a luxury I have permitted myself to have because it helps me to stay healthy and strong. I seriously don’t need a lockdown to keep me from going anywhere!
A while ago, no, actually a VERY LONG time ago, in the winter of 2018, I started a project inspired by the cold winter months. When I think of winter, I think of snow and shades of white and blue, and I selected exactly those colors for a “new” blanket.
The yarn I selected is, ironically enough, called Sunkissed. Nothing sunkissed about my blanket! I am using Scheepjes Cotton 8 and Scheepjes Sunkissed yarn, which are both fingering weight, 100% cotton yarns worked with a 3mm hook. Cotton 8 is available in 44 solid shades, whereas Sunkissed is available in 22 subtle variegated colors. I have made quite a few project using these yarns, including Sophie’s Universe and Mandala Madness. Cotton 8 is one of my favorite yarns, I really like the drape the cotton gives.
Scheepjes Cotton 8 and Sunkissed is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/International), Black Sheep Wools (UK), Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU), Bloemendal Wol (NL), and many Scheepjes stockists worldwide.
I made a sketch of a winter design, using two shades of blue and a lot of white. Winter white means snowflakes, so I am making a giant snowflake blanket. Next week I will show you a bit more of where I am going with this 😉
With love,
Esther

It’s really cold here in the UK today and we had a little snow this morning, and with lockdown crochet manages to keep me sane, I look forward to seeing your new blanket, I’m currently on week 10 of nuts about squares and thoroughly enjoying it, thank you for your wonderful videos 😊

Looking forward to seeing your new blanket. Beautiful blues!
I couldn’t have managed the CAL 2020 without your help Esther, as I had never crocheted anything other than granny squares and C2C. I am now having a go at Sophies universe and have managed with just the pattern up to part six. I think I will listen to your video soon as I need distressing!!
Happy New Year!😁
