Morvan Blanket finished!

Last week I showed you my relaxing TV-project I am making from two Scheepjes Whirls from the Ombré collection. The blanket is an alternating linen stitch blanket in which I carry the yarn up the side, so almost no yarn tails. I would love to show you my finished blanket.

Resources

Yarn to WIP

I am using Citrus Squeeze (563) and Shrinking Violet (558) to make my blanket. Two contrasting colors to make for a bit of interesting color play.

Scheepjes Whirl is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), Black Sheep Wools (UK/Int), Caro’s Atelier (EU/NL), Marlaine.nl (NL), and many other Scheepjes stockists world wide.

From yarn to WIP

I worked linen stitch, alternating the two colors till I had a square. At this point the blanket blanket is just a little boring, but luckily I still have LOADS of yarn left on both my whirls. Another advantage of the whirl, the insane yardage that is on one cake.

From WIP to Blanket

I turned the blanket, and continued with the linen stitch pattern along one edge, but this time only in one color. I continued till the yarn was finished, and then did the same with the second color. I am really pleased with the look these two broad bands of single colored linen stitches give the blanket. It really makes the blanket all grown up.

Sample for sale

I am selling the sample for my Morvan Blanket in my webshop because I want to keep the number of samples I have in my house as small as possible. You can find all my samples HERE. I only have the one sample, and gone is gone!

I am writing up the pattern, and will share it with you next week. Till then!

With love,
Esther

  1. I have just gone through my stash and earmarked 2 whirls for this once the pattern is released – it’s so lovely and the block colour down the side looks really eye-catching

  2. Hello Esther,

Thanks for this gorgeous and inspiring free pattern. You are VERY inspiring!!
If I would want to make a bigger blanket, say, 1,5m x 1,7m, how would you do that, taking the Whirl yarn’s change of colour in consideration? And how many stitches would you start with in the starting chain?

    Kind regards

    1. what you are asking is a completely new design. Also, I used two whirls completely, and the size is smaller than what you are asking, so you would need more yarn. Again, that would come down to a completely new design. I’m sorry, your question is more than I can answer.
