I have seen many lovely versions of the Connected Cushion designed by Martin Up North and today I share the second video tutorial in the series with you in which I show you how to make the decrease part of the panel. I am making a Connected Cushion with two panels using Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn. In this post you find the video tutorial for part 2, as well as all the info you need to make your own Connected Cushion.

Part 2 Video Tutorial : Decrease
In the second part of the three-part Connected Cushion miniseries, we work the decreases of the panel. Just like the first video in the series, also this is also a very long video because I show every row of the pattern. If you open the video on YouTube, you can find the starting points of every row in the video description. The video for Part 2 is available in a RIGHT HANDED and LEFT HANDED video.
Yarn and Yarn Kits
The Connected Cushion is made using Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn. The original cushion design has only one panel that is sewn onto a 50cm square cushion. I have decided to make a double sided cushion in reversed colors, so I need double the yarn compared to the original pattern. I also wanted to go for warm colors that match many rustic interiors.
Here are my colors and yarn amounts:
5 x Moon Stone (810)
5 x Garnet (810)
2 x Rose Quarts (820)
If you want to make the cushion in my colors, I have a kit available in my shop HERE.
I have yarn kits available in my SHOP, but you can also buy Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), The Knitting Network (UK/Int), Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU), and many other Scheepjes stockists world wide!
My Double-Sided Connected Cushion
I am working a double-sided cushion in reverse colors. Here are the instructions to work a cushion similar to mine. Note that I used a smaller hook than given in the pattern because my gauge is different to that of the designer.
With a 3.5mm hook, work the first panel according to the Connected Cushion pattern with Color A = Moon Stone (810) and Color B = Garnet (810). Work a second panel with Color A = Garnet (810) and Color B = Moon Stone (810).
If you put the two half-panels together, you can really see the reversed pattern come to life!
At this point there is only the border left to do. I am using Scheepjes Stone Washed Rose Quartz for the border. Next week I will release the video showing how to work the slip stitches and the double border, and I will also release an extra video showing what I did differently from the original pattern to make my cushion.
