2021 has been a special year for me with many new things coming on my path. I want to take a moment to look back on what the year has brought me, and at the same time I also want to thank you for your unfailing support of me and my work.
It’s all in a Nusthell SHOP
I believe the biggest thing for me this year has been the launch of my new webshop, It’s all in a Nutshell SHOP. The goal of my shop is to make the things that I use in my projects available to you. My shop focusses on my own work, which means that I only have accessories I use in my videos and yarn kits that are either my own designs like Trinity Mandalas, or are my own colorway of a design I made video tutorials for like my Strawberry Ice Cream colorway of Charlotte’s Universe. I have no intention of becoming a yarn shop because I feel that that would take me away too much from the essence of my craft, which is showing you how to make things with my video tutorials.

My shop has been such a blessing to me. Don’t get me wrong, it has been a LOT of hard work and I put many hours into my shop every evening after my day-job, but is has been very rewarding. I want to thank you for your support this past year, it means so much to me.
New Designs
Several new designs have come out of my hands this year. I designed a temperature scarf (which I am actually still working on), a few blankets, mandalas, and shawls. I am rather proud of the list for this year, here it comes!
- African Sunset Temperature Scarf (FREE)
- Morvan Blanket (FREE)
- Snowflake Blanket (FREE)
- Summer Flower Mandalas (FREE)
- Time Traveler colorway for Trinity Mandalas (FREE)
- Spiderweb Coasters (FREE)
- Enigma Blanket CAL in CrochetNow Magazine
- Happy Shawl
- Blooming Dreams Mandalas
- Four Seasons Shawl

Video Tutorials
2021 has been a little more quiet than usual in terms of video tutorials and CALs, the main reason being that there was no Scheepjes CAL this year. I have however been able to team up with two wonderful designers to bring you video tutorials for Connected Cushion MAL and Charlotte’s Universe CAL.

Connected Cushion is a mosaic crochet design by Martin Up North in which we make a cushion. I made my cushion double sided, and used my own colorway for the design.

Charlotte’s Universe is a blanket designed by Dedri Uys from Look at what I made, and is a sequel to Sophie’s Universe. I made my own colorway for this lovely design using pinks and purples, and named the colorway Strawberry Ice Cream.
DyeingYarn
The last really new thing I did this year was to start dyeing my own yarn. I am still learning and experimenting with colors and techniques, but I am slowly getting a feel for what is my signature look. Again, I have no intention of becoming a full-time indie dyer, because I feel it will take me away too much from the essence of my work, but I do feel that dyeing yarn has given me more insight in how colors and fibers work.

I am sure next year will bring new adventures, and I hope you will join me so that we can again make beautiful things together. I wish you a beautiful festive season with those you love. Till next year!
With love,
Esther

My dad passed away a year ago on this date. I spent most of my summer with my mom in Michigan. The weather was hot, so I put my crocheting away. I’m up to part six on the LTC blanket. I’ve found a mistake and need to unravel it. I’m a profectionist. I feel that in order to learn that I need to get the stitches correct. I’m so happy to get to part of In A Nutshell. You must be pretty busy with your hobbies and day job. What is your day job?
