XL squares coming along nicely!

I have been turning my beautiful stash of Scheepjes Stone Washed XL and River Washed XL yarn into squares to make a blanket. I would love to show you some progress from last week, it’s coming along nicely!

Scheepjes Stone Washed XL and River Washed XL are available from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), Black Sheep Wools (UK), Caro’s Atelier (NL/BE), and many Scheepjes Stockists world wide.

I have been turning every ball of Stone Washed XL or River Washed XL yarns into 4 squares that I designed especially for this new blanket. I was fiddling around with the design a bit till I was happy with the final result. The squares have a floral center worked in one of the many beautiful colors I have in my stash, followed by a border in a neutral shade. This yarn is worked with a 5mm hook which means it works up real fast, a total pleasure to work with. Nothing as frustrating as working for hours and hours and then have almost nothing to show for it!

I worked these squares production-style, meaning that I first did all centers and then did the borders. I was doing the pattern blind at a certain point, it’s like my hands new the pattern by heart.

I did not use all the colors in my stash, mostly the pink, purple, red, yellow and orange shades. I now have a large pile of squares, all ready to join.

On my to-do list now is to join all these squares, think of a border to turn it into a blanket, make the border, think of a name for my new blanket, write the pattern, make the video, make the photographs, edit everything, a few other bits and pieces I didn’t think of initially, and maybe have a glass of wine. Sometimes you might think that crocheting the blanket is the most work, but actually it’s not. It’s getting the design on paper that takes the most time.

Next week I will show you what the blanket looks like, and what name I gave it. Till then!

With love,
Esther
