Sophie’s Universe: THE BOOK!

When I heard that Dedri was publishing her fabulous Sophie’s Universe as a book, my mind went to The Lord of the Rings were one purpose brought Elves, Dwarfs, Men and Hobbits together and united them despite their differences. Somehow Sophie’s Universe has done the same. I wouldn’t be surprised if more than a million people have and still are making a Sophie; a million people from ten thousands of families, thousands of nations and hundreds of countries. How wonderful that one blanket can bring us all together.

My journey with Sophie

It has been almost two years to the day that I asked Dedri if I could make video tutorials for her Sophie’s Garden. I asked Dedri for permission for Sophie’s Garden, NOT Sophie’s Universe. At this point I had only done video tutorials for Marinke’s CAL in 2014 and I had little on my Crochet CV. Dedri took an enormous leap of faith when she said “yes” to my request. To this day I think Dedri didn’t quite read my email properly, because she replied saying that she would love for me to make video tutorials for Sophie’s Universe. I thought to myself “ok…, that was more than I bargained for!”

Sophie’s Universe put me on the crochet map, after Sophie I have done more fabulous projects and worked with many talented designers. Dedri blessed me when she gave me permission to make the video tutorials for her, and I believe that my tutorials have blessed her in return. I will always treasure my signed copy with a personal note from Dedri.

My Sophie’s

My first Sophie is currently living with her creator; Dedri has the Sophie I made in rainbow colors with Scheepjes Cotton 8 yarn.

I am currently working on a second Sophie in pure white, my Snow White Sophie. My second Sophie is a summer holiday project because I only work on her during the summer holiday. Inevitably this means that it is going to take me a few years to finish her. She is currently in storage till the next summer holiday, but for somethings as special as Sophie The Book she is allowed out of her winter hibernation.

Wishing you a yarny 2016 & announcing giveaway winner

It’s New Year’s day and before I do anything else I would like to wish each and everyone of you a blessed 2016. I hope this year brings you many good things, but above all I hope it brings you many moments of yarny delight!

happy 2016

For at least one person the new year definitely starts with a moment of yarny delight, the winner of my Landleven Fair Giveaway. Just to refresh your memory, just before Christmas I was at the Scheepjes stand at the Landleven Winter Fair  in Arnhem (NL) where I met up with the lovely Esther from Happy in Red and Nerissa from Miss Neriss. We were at the stand all day to help visitors to the fair make a granny square which was part of a crochet starter kit.

scheepjes yarn

With the kit sold at the fair you had a hook and enough yarn to make a cute scarf or cowl of your own. Included in the kit is a Dutch pattern and a DUTCH video to show you how to make both projects step-by-step. And it is this kit that I am giving away. The giveaway was open to everyone living in The Netherlands.

So, without further ado, the winner of my Landleven Winter Fair Giveaway is Nanda Slagter. Congratulations Nanda! I will contact you by e-mail to get your address. Your kit will be in the mail to you soon.

If you missed out of my giveaway and you would like to get one of these kits, they are available from Sparkelz Creatief.

taking a moment of rest....

It is the start of a new year and this means a start of many new projects. I have been taking a moment of rest on my blog the last two weeks, but this does not mean I have not been working on new things for the year to come. More on all of this in the coming weeks.

Have a wonderful 2016 everyone!

With love,

Esther
