Charlotte’s Universe Video Tutorial Part 10

Part 10 of Charlotte’s Universe Blanket CAL might give you a feeling of ‘I have seen this before….‘ and you would be completely right. The roses that we are making are the same design as the roses in Sophie’s Universe. Dedri wanted Sophie and Charlotte to be sister blankets, and these roses are a beautiful detail that shows the family relationship.

In this post you find the video tutorials for part 10 in which I show you how to make the roses, and you can find the color placement for my Strawberry Ice Cream version of Charlotte’s Universe.

Video Tutorial Part 10

You can find the RIGHT HANDED and LEFT HANDED video tutorials for Charlotte’s Universe on my YouTube channel. In the video description you will find time points that mark the start of each round.

My Strawberry Ice Cream Charlotte’s Universe & Color Placement

I used the following 7 colors of Scheepjes Stone Washed for my Strawberry Ice Cream Charlotte’s Universe together with a 3.5mm hook.

  • 10 x Color A – 821 Pink Quartzite
  • 9 x Color B – 820 Rose Quartz
  • 5 x Color C – 810 Garnet
  • 5 x Color D – 818 Lilac Quartz
  • 5 x Color E – 811 Deep Amethyst
  • 7 x Color F – 836 Tourmaline
  • 2 x Color G – 819 New Jade

You can buy Scheepjes Stone Washed from Wool Warehouse (UK), Jimmy Bean Wools (USA), Love Crafts (USA), The Knitting Network (UK), Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU), or your local Scheepjes Stockist.

Here is my color placement for Charlotte’s Universe Part 10. The roses are so pretty!

RoundColor
90B – 820 Rose Quartz
91B – 820 Rose Quartz
92G – 819 New Jade
93E – 811 Deep Amethyst
94B – 820 Rose Quartz
95B – 820 Rose Quartz
96B – 820 Rose Quartz

For some of these rounds I do not follow the official color placement, meaning that sometimes I change colors where the original pattern does not and visa versa. You can either start the round with a standing stitch using the new color, or slip stitch to the corner and use the last slip stitch in the corner space to change colors.

I gave a workshop at Creahuys41 this week, and I took my finished Strawberry Ice Cream Charlotte’s Universe with me to show the beautiful design, and maybe inspire someone to make one too. One of the ladies brought her Charlotte along too, a beautifully made Sunshine Charlotte, together with loads of goodies from her home town for me. I feel so incredibly blessed and thankful. Once more, thank you so much Uta <3, your blanket is incredibly beautiful and your kindness is very much appreciated.

Official Yarn Kits

There are three official colorways for the Charlotte’s Universe blanket; Vintage Charlotte, Sunshine Charlotte and Pink Charlie. You can of course make the blanket in any colorway you like, and knowing Dedri she will love to see all your color combinations! Dedri has made the original Vintage blanket using Scheepjes Softfun Aquarel (DK/Light Worsted Weight/#3).

  • 21 balls of Color A
  • 10 balls of Color B
  • 6 balls of Color C

You can find more tips and a coloring chart to help you find your perfect color placement on Dedri’s blog HERE.

There are Charlotte’s Universe kits available from Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), or you can purchase Scheepjes Stoftfun yarn individually from Caro’s Atelier (NL) or many Scheepjes stockists world wide!
