Time for part 8 of Elements CAL designed by Sandra from Hooks and Yarn. In part 8 we continue with the squaring up our blanket and making it larger. Only 4 rounds this week, so that gives everyone time to catch up if needed.
Taking photo’s was a challenge this week; my young kitten wanted to have the blanket all to himself. This is Troy, he is about 5 months old and is a rescue I adopted a few months ago. He was in my foster care from since he was 5 weeks old and he hasn’t left. He is just the sweetest thing so we decided to keep him.

Video tutorial Part 8
In part 8 we grow the textured corner with granny special stitches. I have chosen not to show you all the granny special stitches anymore because I am sure that by this time you can do them in your sleep. I do show you how to do all the other bits in between.
Yarn & kits
There are official Elements CAL yarn kits available from Hooks and Yarn. I have made my own colorway using Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn in the following 5 colors.
- Color 1 – Moonstone (801)
- Color 2 – Lilac Quartz (818)
- Color 3 – Deep Amethyst (811)
- Color 4 – Lepidolite (830)
- Color 5 – Boulder Opal (804)
Scheepjes Stone Washed is available from Wool Warehouse (UK/International), Love Crochet (US), Knotty House (CA) , Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU) or your local Scheepjes Stockist. In addition to the yarn you will also need a 4mm hook. Thank you for supporting my work by buying your yarn through the links on my blog. ❤

These are beautiful. I’m trying to make Afghans for dogs and cats rescued and hoping they stay with the same animal all the way to adoption. I’m not getting very much done quickly. I have five projects going and two are baby gifts for baby due next month.
What I was wondering if you have an easy but warm and nice looking Afghan I can make in the size that a Great Dane or Terrier can use its whole life. If you have a pattern like this would you mind sharing? I would be so very grateful.

Maybe my Merry-go-round blanket? This is a dense fabric pattern that you can make as large or as small as you need, depending on the dog in this case. For a Great Dane I suggest making the number of starting stitches more than the pattern suggests to get the size up even more.
