Yarn Kits

The blankets are made using not one but ALL the colors in either the Scheepjes Metropolis color range or the Scheepjes Scrumptious color range. What this means in practice is that the yarn kits contain a color pack with mini balls of all the colors or either Scheepjes Metropolis or Scheepjes Scrumptious along with 3 shades of gray. Off course the kits also contain goodies for a personal CAL experience!

You can get the kits from Wool Warehouse if you live in the UK, from Jimmy Beans if you live in USA. If you live in Europe, Caro’s Atelier is a great option. The kits are also available from many other Scheepjes retailers.

Scheepjes Metropolis Yarn kit

With the Metropolis yarn kit you will make a blanket that is approximately 160cm x 142cm (60″ x 56″). The kit contains 17 full 50g balls of Metropolis in 3 base gray colors and 1 Metropolis color pack with 80 mini 10g balls. Metropolis is made from a blend of 75% Extra Fine Merino wool and 25% Nylon. If you are allergic to wool, the Scrumptious kit might be a better option for you. You will also need a 2mm, 2.5mm and 3mm crochet hook.

Scheepjes Scrumptious Yarn kit

With the Scrumptious yarn kit you will make a blanket that is approximately 198cm x 176cm (78″ x 69″). The kit contains 13 full 100g balls of Scrumptious in 3 base gray colors and 1 Limited Edition Scrumptious color pack with 80 mini 30g balls. Scrumptious is made from a blend of 50% recycled polyester and 50% Acrylic. You will also need a 3mm, 3.5mm and 4mm crochet hook.

Other CAL details

The CAL will last for 12 weeks, with 8 pattern parts. Some parts are for one week, and some parts will take two weeks. The first part is released January 11th, so you still have loads of time to get you yarn kit and play with color placement.

You see, the idea is that you play with color in the project, so there is no fixed color placement, you can choose and design your own! A real experiment in the color laboratory 😉 There are coloring sheets available before hand, so you can play and experiment before making your blanket. Very important, no stress if you feel uncomfortable making your own color placement, then Rachele has 5 examples for you and you can follow along with her suggestions.

There will be a lot of support available for you if you need it, Feel free to join the Official Scheepjes English or Dutch Facebook groups to meet fellow crafters. This is also a wonderful place to share your work.

My Colour Lab Blanket and Color placement

Just like you, I am also making my own blanket in my own, personal colorway. I still need to make pretty pictures of my finished blanket, but here you see a bit of work-in-progress to give you a feeling for the look and feel of my blanket. With each pattern part I will share my color placement with you.

    1. You make all colorways with the same kit. It’s one kit for ALL colorways, the difference is the color placement. I will not be selling kits, but I will share my color placement each week. If you buy a kit through one of the links on my blog, you support my work because I get a small commission from your purchase.
