Changes to It’s all in a Nutshell

Where do I begin? When I started to crochet in 2014 my goal was to help people make something beautiful by showing how to crochet ONE blanket. Just that, nothing more. But I have done so much more and I have achieved so much. The road has been fabulous! And at the same time, it is time for a new road.

Over the next 3 years I will slowly work towards closing It’s all in a Nutshell. Before you get all worried about all my videos and patterns not being accessible anymore, ALL video tutorials on my YouTube channel and ALL patterns on Ravelry and here on my website will stay online indefinitely. At a certain point I will simply not be making new content anymore.

I have a few things I still want to publish. These are designs that are in various stages of being compete and I want to finish them and share them with you. After that I will retire from crochet designing and making tutorials.

I have made a mental list for myself on what I still want to publish. I have more designs and ideas sketched out, even samples made, but I am not going to finish them all. I am in the proces of making very conscious choices on what I do and do not finish. Deciding not to finish something is difficult and calming at the same time.

Designs that I want to share with you, in no particular order, are

  • a set of mandalas,
  • a sister blanket for Enigma,
  • a square,
  • a textured shawl, and
  • a scarf

I will also be spending time making my website more organized, so that all the patterns are easy to find and all the links go to the right place. These things usually take more time that one might realize.

I am unsure of what I want to do with my webshop. I might or might not keep it open after 2028. We’ll see. I will also have to see if I continue attending yarn shows. Like my webshop it’s too early to make a decision on the topic. I really enjoy yarn shows, but if I have no new content to share it feels rather silly to attend.

It might come as a surprise to you that I am stopping with crochet. I understand. For me this has been a proces that has taken more than a year to come to the point where I am now. I am reflecting on things in my life; the decisions I made, the goals I achieved, and where I want to go in the second half of my life. Looking on my crochet journey I can simply say that I have achieved everything I set out to do. I feel that I will be leaving a beautiful legacy behind that others can continue to build on.

For the moment I am still around, so keep an eye out over the next few years for my new designs!

Love
Esther
