TLC Blanket – Part 3

For part 3 of TLC Blanket you will learn perhaps the most classic of all crochet stitches, the so-called granny stitch. This stitch pattern is used in so many designs, and one you recognize it, you see it everywhere.

Resources

Materials

TLC Blanket is available in 3 beautiful colorways from the wide range of Scheepjes Chunky Monkey yarn. Each blanket is made using 6 colors, a 5.0mm and a 6.5mm hook. Find all information about yarn amounts and other other supplies HERE.

Scheepjes Chunky Monkey is available from many Scheepjes retailers, including Wool Warehouse (UK/Int), and Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU). Many stores (will soon) have kits available in the colors I selected, such as Wool Warehouse (UK/Int) who have kits for the Kaleidoscope, Marine and Meadow colorways. Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU) and Creahuys 41 (NL) also have kits available, but you are also more than welcome to choose your own colors.

  • The stitch pattern we work in part 3 is called a granny stitch, and is perhaps the most classic and well known stitch pattern in crochet.
  • The group of 3dc is called a granny group, I abbreviate it with GG.
  • Do not turn your work. All rows are worked with RS facing.
  • Return to your base hook size of 5mm for this part.
  • Ch3 at the beginning of a row counts as 1dc.

Finishing Part 3

Work away all yarn tails. The blanket may wobble. This is because of the stitches from part 2 pull the fabric inward. At the end of the project we will block the blanket, which will help to pull the blanket in to shape. The blanket is now about 36cm wide and 125cm long.
