Time to get Connected with the mosaic Connected Cushion designed by Martin Up North using Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn. We are making the Connected Cushion as part of a Make-ALong, and I have step-by-step video tutorials available to help you make the cushion. Find everything you need in this post, including the video tutorials to make the original Connected Cushion and also the extra video showing you how I made my version of the pattern.

Yarn and Yarn Kits
The Connected Cushion is made using Scheepjes Stone Washed yarn. The original cushion design has only one panel that is sewn onto a 50cm square cushion. I have decided to make a double sided cushion in reversed colors, so I need more yarn compared to the original pattern. I also wanted to go for warm colors that match many rustic interiors.
Here are my colors and yarn amounts:
- 5 x Moon Stone (810)
- 5 x Garnet (810)
- 2 x Rose Quarts (820)
You can buy Scheepjes Stone Washed from Wool Warehouse (UK), Jimmy Bean Wools (USA), Love Crafts (USA), The Knitting Network (UK), Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU), or your local Scheepjes Stockist.
Video Tutorials
I have video tutorials to help you make the cushion row by row. It’s a rather long pattern if you record every row, so I have broken the project down in several videos. The videos will be available in English (US Terms), and in both a left and right handed version. You can find the videos in a playlists:

My Double-Sided Connected Cushion
I am working a double-sided cushion in reverse colors. Here are the instructions to work a cushion similar to mine. Note that I used a smaller hook than given in the pattern because my gauge is different to that of the designer.
With a 3.5mm hook, work the first panel according to the Connected Cushion pattern with Color A = Moon Stone (810) and Color B = Garnet (810). Work a second panel with Color A = Garnet (810) and Color B = Moon Stone (810).
If you put the two half-panels together, you can really see the reversed pattern come to life!
Work a border on both panels using Color C = Rose Quartz (820). When working the border, only work the front half of the double border. DO NOT work the back half of the border. It’s not needed because when I join the two panel together, the yarn tails are hidden in the cushion anyway.
As a final step, join the two panels together to complete the double sided cushion. Fasten off and secure all yarn tails before continuing. Join the two panels with a round of single crochet stitches; make sure to have the back sides of the two panels facing each other. Work 3 single crochets through two adjacent corners, and 1 single crochet through both adjacent stitches. When you have worked 3 edges, insert the cushion inner and close the last edge. Fasten off and work away the last yarn tail.
I have a short video showing you how to work the extra part, this is not part of the original pattern, but is my ad-on to the design. I have a RIGHT HANDED and LEFT HANDED version of this video available on my YouTube channel.
