Faded Fantasy Temperature Blanket 2020 Update #1

How are you all hanging on? Live is crazy right now, isn’t it? On the one hand my life is on pause with the lock-down we have in the Netherlands, and on the other hand I am extremely busy home schooling my children while coordinating my university bachelor program’s new online teaching activities from home.

It is what it is, and this too will pass. Every day I look at what I have and I count my blessings. One thing I have, and that is unchanged, is my crochet. Time for an update on my Faded Fantasy Temperature Blanket that I am making in 2020 using Scheepjes Metropolis yarn.

Faded Fantasy Update #1

We are now 3 months into 2020, and the weather has actually been very stable in the Netherlands, even if the rest of society is everything but stable. We had mild temperatures during the winter and the fade look I am going for is slowly starting to appear. Look at how my blanket has grown each month!

I have only used 4 colors so far, and I haven’t even used my coldest color. Our winter has been so mild! Not a single day of frost. There were a few days that it was a close call, but still, no ice days.

I am slightly behind on my yarn tails, and I did not block my blanket this month, so it’s a bit wonky and uneven, but you can really see the fade taking shape! I have my yarn balls happily tucked away in my temperature blanket project bag, which is a hand made bag by Tien and Miep. I really believe that in these difficult times we should support small businesses. I have not worries, I work at a large university, but if you have a small shop, it’s a totally different matter.

About Faded Fantasy Temperature Blanket

Have you missed the announcement of my new temperature blanket project, or maybe you are curious? The idea behind my Faded Fantasy Temperature Blanket is to choose a color you love, and then make a fade in that color using 8 shades from light to dark. I have selected 3 fades that I think you might like in shades of pink, blue, and green, but you can also make your own fade. I have named my 3 colorways Precious Pink Fade, Bubbly Blue Fade, and Graceful Green fade. Find all the info on yarn amounts, the free pattern in Dutch and English, and the colorways HERE.

Scheepjes Metropolis yarn is available from Wool Warehouse (Ships International) and Caro’s Atelier (NL/EU) and many other Scheepjes Stockists.
